Likes and dislikes

Things to remember about likes and dislikes:

1. When these expressions are followed by a verb, the latter is put in the -ing form.
Examples:

I like listening to music.

2. Note that” very much” & ” a lot” always come after the things you like.
Examples:

 I like basketball very much/a lot. NOT” I like very much/a lot basketball.

Phrases to know: 

I’m crazy for …I am crazy for sports
My favorite …My favorite movie is Inception
I likeI like playing soccer with my brother
I loveI love doing yoga
I hateI hate eating vegetables
I really hateI really hate doing exercises at school
I really adoreI really adore happy endings
I detestI detest having to come here every summer
[noun] is OKA Pepsi is OK

Likes and Dislikes practice

Look at the actions below and decide which you like and which you don’t like. Then write a sentence about each of these actions, using the following verbs:

like; enjoy; love; dislike; hate; don’t/doesn’t mind

chat on the phone; go to the disco; read magazines; play tennis; go out with friends; get up early; do the washing up; do the shopping; clean up the house; do homework; play an instrument; cook; repair things; listen to the radio; do the shopping.

e.g. I love cooking; I don’t mind preparing breakfast.
